Julius Rountree

Julius Rountree Jr. is a senior Music Media major at Norfolk State University. Born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia, he developed an early love for music and continued to grow as he discovered a passion for drumming. Julius was a drummer in middle school where he learned the basics, while building a solid foundation that pushed him to want more. In 2016, he began playing drums at Covenant

Community Church, where he continues to serve and grow musically.

Julius’ church experience has helped to develop discipline, consistency, and an understanding of how music can affect people on a deeper level. From 2019 to 2023, he marched with the Spartan Legion Marching Band at Norfolk State University, and during that time, had the opportunity to step into leadership as a section leader in 2021. Being a part of the Spartan Legion taught teamwork, accountability, and how to perform at a prominent level under pressure. Moreover, Julius is a proud member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, where he continues to grow as a leader while upholding the values of musicianship, service, and brotherhood.

Through his academic journey and performance experiences, Julius remains focused on continuing to develop as a creative and professional within music and media.
