Piano Instructor

Shaun started his music studies at Tidewater Community College under Jeanette Winsor in classical piano while gaining his first professional ensemble experience with Mark Denison. It was here that he realized and accepted what it takes to be a music student. While playing both jazz and classical piano, he also studied with Don Davis in Jazz piano. After TCC, Shaun pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Music at James Madison University. Continuing with ensemble experiences and studying piano under Dr. Eric Ruple, Xinlu Ai, and Masayoshi Ishikawa, he began teaching private piano lessons at JMU.

While serving as a member of Harrisonburg Music Teacher Association (HMTA) and enrolling in Private Piano Pedagogy with Dr. Steinberg, he learned valuable priorities as a piano teacher such as creating lesson plans, having effective resources for students and most of all, having good communication and building trustworthy relationship with parents and students.
